Niss'art Burger, Nice

Nom Nom Nom, home-made Burgers and fries that are the BOMB! I hadn't actually heard of this place until my sister came to visit and checked trip advisor for something to eat. It is run by the chef who is half dutch and half french. Even when I made the reservation I was impressed by the kindness over the phone. The chef is helped by her mother and sister in the kitchen and their business is really managed on a personal level where you can see the pride shining. They have an open kitchen so you can see the food being prepared.
On TripAdvisor it's stated that this is a must try if you go to Nice. Well I can only agree! I had a chicken burger and it was so delicious, the best I have ever had! The portion size was perfect and the ingredients are local. It is all so fresh that we even got a bit of home made aioli instead of mayonaise whilst we waited for the mayo to be made, that is how fresh everything is. The burger bun is delicious and there is a healthy portion of sauce, salad and onions on here!

I feel like places like this should be supported more! Family run businesses where the hard work and dedication should be rewarded! With friendly staff and great food you can never go wrong. So I will say this now, visit places like this for real burgers and not Mcdonalds where you may pay only 8€ for a menu, but you will be hungry again in 2 hours.
I payed 15€ for this meal and I was full the rest of the evening.

Great Place, great owner and employees and most important of all, GREAT food! Need I say more!

Hint:

If you want a day where you don't spend too much money, Visit Pinkoffee for lunch and this place for dinner and I promise you, you will not be disappointed!

Pinkoffee, Nice

Pinkoffee is located very close to the promenade and Hotel Negresco. Everything is home-made here and they post the process regularly on their Facebook page.
Well of course I couldn't leave without tasting this, and time is running out!
So I was planning to get just the CG, but then I saw that they have this offer where you can choose a focaccia or bagel, soda and a CG for only 11,90€ so why not ;)
We of course started off with the focaccia, I chose a chicken and mozzarella focaccia. I inhaled it! It was really good and you can taste that is was fresh. The bread was really nice and fluffy and it was filled really well.

Now on to the Pièce de résistance! after the focaccia I was ready for something sweet and a coffee! now I know that it seems that I say this a lot, but this CG was really really good, like amazingly good! My coffee was (finally) topped with lovely milk foam, which is hard to get in Nice! The little muffin tasted like a snickers bar! it had the chocolate chip and was topped with hazelnuts, yum :) Then in the little shot glass was vanilla ice-cream with a fruit puree, really nice and refreshing! now on to my 2 favourites! The cheesecake and the chocolate brownie/ fondant. The cheesecake was just really really delicious! the bottom crust was nice and thick and the cream was not too heavy! The brownie was still a bit warm and was really good with the whipped cream! This was all home made, delicious and not expensive for what you get, especially in comparison to the rest of Nice! Definitely a must try if you go to Nice!
Enjoy guys!

Lenôtre, Nice

Lenôtre is known for the quality of its products, and of course is priced accordingly ;)
I am back on my high protein diet to support my activity levels. So once a week I have a cheat day! In other words I only get to eat the nice stuff once a week ;)
Soooo being all happy to have my sugary treat I set off for Lenôtre.
At the steep price of 9,50€ I was expecting something really good. It was not.
Of course the quality and taste was good, but the fact that I got 2 macarons and 2 tiny chocolates made it all a bit sour... The macarons are 1,50€ each and the chocolate I think about the same thing. The price of this CG is absolutely not justified, no matter what the brand! Just check out the CG's of Epicurien and brasserie Georges, same quality, same price range but so much better!
All in all, not recommended by me is all I can say!

Les Brasseries Georges, Nice

I've wanted to go to Les Brasseries Georges for a while now, but i've never really had the time or I went to places I wanted to try first. I walked past this place once and loved the interior design. It looks very regal and all you can think is, that must be good! So today I went in. Everything looked mouthwateringly delicious, so I was very impatient to try their CG.

I asked the waitress for the CG, and as usual some extra milk. she asked if maybe I would like a café noisette which was with milk and wouldn't cost extra. Already impressed with the nice service I sat down and started reading my book (huge bookworm here). It took a couple minutes longer than I'm used to so I was wondering why it took longer then usual.
After about 5 to 10 min a waiter came up and served this taste bomb.

I can tell you now that I liked all of it! So from top left to right and bottom left to right. A clafoutis with fig and strawberry on top, thick Chocolate mousse, chocolate mousse squareand last but not least raspberry sorbet.
Let's begin! My first impression was: WOW. It looks very refined and exactly something I would expect in a french brasserie.
The Clafoutis had a confit fig on top as far as I could tell from taste and a strawberry also. It was a very well made clafoutis with little bits of fruit confit. I usually don't like confit fruit, but it  wasn't overpowering as I would have expected. It actually gave it a little zing that made it just right.
a bit hard to eat with a spoon though, so maybe don't order this if you want to look elegant on a date ;)
The thick chocolate mousse was, o, so delicious! on the bottom it had pastry which softened the chocolate explosion in your mouth!
God I love chocolate!
Which is why I also loved my favourite part of this CG, the chocolate mousse square. It looks quite heavy, but it was anything but that! It was sooo fluffy, like clouds! And then to my surprise, there was a little crunchy layer of speculoos between the cake bottom and the mousse! Very unexpected and very delicious! I'm dutch so anything with speculoos will do the trick. Ooo so delicious...

The raspberry sorbet was nice and light and was complimented well by the coffee.
This little gem was no cheap CG but it was definitely worth it! 8,90€ for all of this, and I can guarantee you will not be disappointed!

Until next time!
